Join a landmark hyperscale data centre build in Johor’s rapidly expanding digital infrastructure hub. We’re partnering with a global project management consultancy to deliver one of Southeast Asia’s most critical DC projects. As Commissioning Support Manager across multiple sites, you’ll be the technical linchpin ensuring all mission-critical systems are tested, validated, and handed over flawlessly to meet our hyperscale client’s uptime and performance standards.
This is a high-impact, project-level role for someone who thrives in fast-paced, technically complex environments and wants their name on a flagship facility.
If you are sucessful in this role, you will enjoy the following:
- Scale: Be part of a GW-scale data centre growth region serving global cloud demand
- Complexity: Work on cutting-edge liquid cooling, high-density power, and sustainability initiatives
- Impact: Direct interface with hyperscale end-client and global PM consultancy — high visibility role
- Package: Competitive project-based compensation with potential for extension or redeployment to other APAC builds
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Commissioning Execution: Drive day-to-day commissioning activities across MEP, CSA, and integrated systems for a multi-MW hyperscale data centre campus
- Stakeholder Coordination: Interface between client, main contractor, trade contractors, Cx consultants, and vendors to maintain schedule alignment and resolve technical conflicts
- Technical Oversight: Review and approve commissioning plans, method statements, test scripts, and L1-L5 documentation in line with ASHRAE, Uptime Institute, and client-specific standards
- Quality & Compliance: Ensure all systems — UPS, generators, chillers, CRAC/CRAH, BMS, EPMS, fire protection, security — meet design intent and operational readiness criteria
- Issue Management: Track and drive closure of commissioning punch items, deficiencies, and NCRs using BIM 360, CxAlloy, or equivalent platforms
- Integrated Systems Testing: Support and witness IST, Black Building Tests, and Pull-the-Plug exercises to validate full facility resilience
- Reporting & Handover: Provide weekly progress dashboards to PMO and client. Manage O&M documentation, training, and final handover packages
- Risk Mitigation: Proactively identify commissioning risks to schedule, safety, or performance and implement mitigation strategies
Key Requirements:
- Experience: 8+ years in data centre or mission-critical commissioning, with 3+ years in a lead/manager role on large-scale projects >20MW
- Background: Must come from commissioning consultancy or specialist MEP/contractor with proven DC delivery experience
- Technical Depth: Strong working knowledge of electrical and mechanical infrastructure, controls integration, and Tier III/IV topologies
- Project Exposure: Hyperscale or colocation data centre experience preferred. APAC regional experience is a strong advantage
- Certifications: CxA, CCP, PMP, or equivalent. Knowledge of Uptime Institute TCDD/TCOS, ISO 9001, and LEED a plus
- Soft Skills: Exceptional communication and coordination skills. Able to command authority with contractors while maintaining collaborative client relationships
- Other: Willing to be site-based in Johor Bahru. Must be able to work under pressure to meet aggressive energization and RFS dates
