We are representing an international logistics and mobility services group undergoing an exciting period of rapid expansion across Southeast Asia. We are searching for a General Manager to lead the Malaysia business.
The General Manager will have overall responsibility for the performance and growth of the business, overseeing commercial strategy, business development, operations, project delivery, client relationships and team leadership.
The successful candidate will be a hands-on business leader with a strong understanding of commercial relocation, workplace solutions, logistics, facilities services, project management or related B2B service industries. The individual should have a proven track record of growing revenue while maintaining high standards of operational delivery and customer experience.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead the overall Malaysia business with full accountability for commercial, operational and financial performance, developing and executing strategies aligned with regional and global business objectives.
- Own the country P&L, including revenue, profitability, budgeting, forecasting, cost management and overall financial performance, while identifying opportunities to improve margins and operational efficiency.
- Drive business development and revenue growth by identifying new market opportunities, developing strategic partnerships, expanding key accounts and building a sustainable pipeline across workplace relocation and related services.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key corporate clients and senior stakeholders, personally supporting major pitches, tenders, contract negotiations and strategic account development.
- Oversee day-to-day operations and project delivery, ensuring projects are executed safely, efficiently, on time, within budget and in accordance with agreed service levels and customer expectations.
- Lead and develop multidisciplinary commercial, operational and project teams, establishing clear performance objectives while fostering a high-performance culture focused on accountability, collaboration and customer service.
- Drive operational excellence and continuous improvement by monitoring business and project KPIs, optimising resources and processes, managing operational risks and identifying opportunities for greater productivity and scalability.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors, subcontractors, consultants and strategic partners, ensuring the organisation has the capabilities and resources required to successfully deliver complex client projects.
- Ensure the Malaysia business maintains strong standards of governance, health and safety, regulatory compliance and risk management, while providing regular performance updates, forecasts and strategic recommendations to regional leadership.
Key qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain, Construction Management, Facilities Management or a related discipline. An MBA or other postgraduate qualification would be advantageous.
- Approximately 15+ years of relevant professional experience, including significant senior management or country leadership experience.
- Proven experience managing a business unit, country operation or substantial operational division with P&L responsibility.
- Strong commercial track record with demonstrated experience in revenue growth, business development and key account management.
- Experience within commercial relocation, workplace solutions, logistics, facilities management, construction/fit-out, project services or other B2B service environments would be highly advantageous.
- Strong understanding of project-based businesses involving manpower, logistics, subcontractors and complex client requirements.
- Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary teams across commercial and operational functions.
- Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting, forecasting, project profitability and cost management.
- Excellent negotiation, presentation and stakeholder management skills.
Strong network within the Malaysian corporate, property, facilities or workplace ecosystem would be advantageous.
- Commercially minded, entrepreneurial and comfortable operating in a hands-on leadership environment.
- Strong command of English; additional Malaysian languages would be advantageous.
