We are currently working with a leading investment firm specializing in hospitality assets, and we're seeking an exceptional Managing Director to lead our Japan operations. As Managing Director, you'll oversee the full investment lifecycle, from deal origination to asset management and exit, while building and maintaining key stakeholder relationships across Japan. You'll leverage your expertise in hospitality investments, transaction management, and leadership to drive business growth and optimize portfolio performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deal Sourcing & Relationship Management: Build and maintain senior-level relationships with key ecosystem partners, source proprietary deal flow, and represent the firm at industry events.
- Investment Underwriting & Analysis: Provide strategic input and rigorous review of investment underwritings, ensuring comprehensive cost inclusion and accuracy of financial projections.
- Transaction Negotiation & Execution: Lead negotiations with diverse stakeholders, manage acquisition and divestment processes, and oversee transaction structuring and deal optimization.
- Portfolio & Asset Management: Lead major CAPEX projects, oversee refinancing activities, and drive value creation initiatives in collaboration with operators and asset managers.
- Structural Optimization: Conduct continuous reviews of Japan entity structures to ensure tax efficiency and regulatory compliance.
- Leadership & Team Development: Provide strategic guidance and mentorship to team members, foster a collaborative culture, and develop talent through coaching and training.
Key Requirements:
- 15+ years of progressive experience in private equity, real estate investment, or hospitality investment, with 10+ years specifically in hospitality sector investments.
- 8+ years in senior/executive leadership roles with P&L or portfolio management responsibility.
- Proven track record of executing complex transactions from origination to exit.
- Direct experience investing in Japan market.
- Expert knowledge of hospitality real estate underwriting, valuation, and financial modeling.
- Strong grasp of Japanese investment structures and regulatory environment.
