We are currently working closely with a leading international data center operator, which specialize in providing cutting-edge solutions to meet the growing demands of businesses worldwide. With a focus on reliability, efficiency, and innovation, the team is expanding its operations in Japan to cater to the dynamic needs of the market. We are seeking a skilled Design Manager to join the growing team and lead the design process for our new data center projects in Japan.

The Design Manager will play a crucial role in coordinating and managing the design process for our new data center projects in Japan. Reporting directly to the General Manager in Japan, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of design, ensuring alignment with company standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, project management skills, and leadership capabilities to drive successful project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:
- Design Coordination: Lead the design process from concept through to completion, collaborating with internal stakeholders, external consultants, and contractors to ensure project objectives are met within defined timelines and budget constraints.

- Technical Expertise: Provide technical oversight and guidance on all aspects of data center design, including architectural, mechanical, electrical, and structural components, to ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.

- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all design activities adhere to relevant building codes, zoning regulations, environmental requirements, and other statutory obligations in Japan.

- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate design-related risks by conducting thorough reviews, implementing appropriate controls, and proactively addressing potential issues throughout the project lifecycle.

- Quality Assurance: Establish and maintain rigorous quality assurance processes to uphold design integrity, performance standards, and customer expectations across all projects.

- Team Leadership: Manage a multidisciplinary team of designers, engineers, and consultants, fostering collaboration, providing mentorship, and promoting a culture of continuous improvement.

- Budget and Schedule Management: Monitor design budgets, resource allocation, and project schedules to ensure optimal efficiency and cost-effectiveness while meeting project milestones and delivery timelines.

- Stakeholder Engagement: Facilitate effective communication and collaboration with internal stakeholders, external partners, regulatory authorities, and community representatives to address concerns, resolve conflicts, and maintain positive relationships throughout the project lifecycle.

- Innovation and Best Practices: Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in data center design and construction, driving continuous innovation and improvement in our project delivery processes.

Key Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Proven experience (minimum 7 years) in data center design, construction, or project management, with a track record of successful project delivery in Japan.
- Strong understanding of building codes, regulatory requirements, and industry standards relevant to data center design and construction in Japan.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, BIM, and other relevant design software/tools.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively manage multidisciplinary teams and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize competing demands, manage resources effectively, and deliver projects on time and within budget.
- Fluent in Japanese and English, with strong written and verbal communication skills in both languages.
