We are representing an international hospitality design consultancy, looking for a hands-on creative leader who can set the design direction, run the studio’s day-to-day, and take ownership of the numbers. You’ll shape concepts, guide the team, and make sure exceptional work gets delivered—on brief, on budget, and on time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the studio in developing thoughtful design solutions—from early concept to construction-ready documentation.
- Drive concept development, prepare sketch designs (including perspectives, material and furniture selections), and iterate based on client feedback. Present concepts alongside the Project Director.
- Visit sites to capture measurements, photography, and context; ensure the design responds to real conditions.
- Clarify scope, build the programme, and plan workflows for designers and CAD/BIM support.
- Prepare and coordinate full tender and construction packages (architectural, interior, and M&E), including details, specifications, and schedules; liaise with M&E and other consultants.
- Issue RFIs, change orders, site instructions, and variations; maintain a register of contractor communications and coordinate with QS/cost consultants on budgets.
- Studio & commercial management
- Take overall responsibility for the studio’s P&L; manage cost control for corporate office turnkey and consultancy projects.
- Lead resourcing—forecast requirements, allocate teams, and plan proposal resourcing and timelines.
- Liaise with the Managing Director on studio performance, resourcing, and operations.
- Mentor, train, and supervise senior and junior designers to deliver strong design and consistent, standards-based detailing.
- Ensure adherence to studio policies, CAD/BIM standards (layering, object naming, drawing guidelines), and the Quality Management System; drive continuous improvement.
- Coordinate with the CAD team to produce construction documentation and as-built drawings for client handover.
- Finalize and sign off the client brief; gather requirements and manage approvals.
- Play an active role in business development and brand representation—prepare proposals, update CRM/Outlook contacts, and maintain the studio’s design database (3D imagery, AutoCAD library, photography, products, projects).
- Attend site meetings and inspections to verify construction and furniture installation against design specifications.
Key Requirements:
- Proven leadership in interior architecture/design studios, ideally with corporate workplace, turnkey, and consulting projects.
- Strong concept-to-documentation capability; fluent in coordinating with consultants, contractors, and client teams.
- Commercial acumen: budgeting, cost control, and accountability for studio performance.
- Excellent people management—able to develop senior and junior designers while upholding quality and process.
- Clear communicator and confident presenter; comfortable representing the studio externally.
