We are partnering with a globally recognised luxury hospitality interior design consultancy to appoint a Design Director to lead and establish its presence in Thailand. This is a senior leadership role requiring a highly entrepreneurial design professional who can drive creative excellence while building a strong local team and market presence from the ground up.
This position is suited for an established Design Director, Associate Director, or a senior design leader ready to take on a studio-building mandate. The ideal candidate will bring both exceptional design credentials and a strong industry network within Thailand’s hospitality and luxury development landscape.
Key Responsibilities
Design Leadership
– Lead the creative vision and design direction for hospitality and luxury interior projects
– Oversee projects from concept through construction, ensuring design integrity and brand standards
– Drive strong storytelling, spatial strategy, and FF&E excellence
– Present to high-level clients, hotel operators, and developers with confidence and authority
– Maintain global-level design quality while responding to local market nuances
Studio & Team Building
– Build, structure, and grow the Thailand design team from inception
– Recruit, mentor, and develop high-performing designers and project leads
– Establish studio workflows, quality control systems, and delivery standards
– Foster a collaborative, design-driven studio culture aligned with global standards
Business & Market Development
– Leverage an extensive local network within developers, hotel operators, consultants, and contractors
– Identify and secure new project opportunities within Thailand and the broader Southeast Asia region
– Represent the studio at industry events, client meetings, and strategic engagements
– Contribute to proposals, pitch strategies, and fee negotiations
– Monitor market signals, development pipelines, and hospitality trends to inform growth strategy
Key Requirements
– Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or related disciplines
– 12–18+ years of experience in hospitality or luxury interior design
– Proven track record in leading high-end hotel, resort, or branded residential projects
– Prior experience in a Design Director, Associate Director, or senior leadership role
– Demonstrated experience building or scaling teams
– Strong, established network within Thailand’s hospitality and real estate development sector
– Strong understanding of Thai market regulations, consultants, and working culture
– Exceptional design sensibility combined with strong technical awareness
– Confident client-facing presence with proven business development capability
– Thai nationals preferred; fluency in Thai and English highly advantageous
