The role will be responsible for overseeing the management of site project works that are undertaken in the existing Singapore data centres and all related aspects - smaller projects normally less than S$5m and run through our Site Operations team. The Project Manager (PM) will manage internal teams along with external delivery parties (i.e., external PM’s, Quantity Surveyor, Architect, and Engineers). The role will be primarily based in the Tai Seng Facility, but may also require work at our Woodlands Data Centre.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  1. To implement GS's highest standards of cost, quality, and programme control throughout the design and build phases.

  2. To lead on-site safety management procedures to ensure compliance with all mandatory and industry standards. Lead safety management process in construction, design, and handover to operations teams.

  3. Advise and lead in contract negotiations to determine design and construction programme and costs, while always ensuring that the highest quality of service is procured.

  4. Identify, track, pursue, and close out business and project risks.

  5. Lead and coordinate multiple external consultants for the design, construction, and delivery of the data centers

  6. Plan, organize, and direct activities concerned with the construction and maintenance of structures, facilities, and systems, and ultimately ensure execution of the construction plan/programme.

  7. Prepare contracts and negotiate revisions, changes, and additions to contractual agreements with architects, consultants, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.

  8. Conduct regular project review meetings with Project and Construction consultants and contractors, both on and off-site, and report to the Group project team regularly

  9. Advise and negotiate with principal suppliers of major plant and equipment for GS to procure these items before the appointment of the contractors.

  10. Prepare monthly reports based on agreed standard formats

  11. Ensure compliance with all relevant local permitting and government/local authority regulations.

  12. Ensure timely resolution of issues and deficiencies and develop and implement contingency plans to recover project costs and schedule slippage when appropriate.

  13. Ensure the proper and complete handover of the completed works to the GS operations teams.

  14. Work closely with the Development Managers, Technical Directors, Regional Construction Managers, Site Operations Managers, Facility Managers / Supervisors, and rollout team regarding the design, construction, and progress of the works.
