We are currently representing one of the largest hyperscale Data Centre Operator in looking for a Senior Contracts Manager. This position plays a key role in ensuring strong commercial outcomes across the organization's development projects. Working closely with project leadership and cross-functional teams, you will oversee contract strategy, risk management, and commercial administration from project initiation through completion.
The role also includes mentoring contract professionals within the Johor Bahru team and contributing to the continued growth of AirTrunk’s regional delivery capability.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Strategy & Contract Oversight
- Provide expert advice on contractual and commercial matters across major data centre development projects.
- Lead negotiations with contractors and suppliers to establish balanced and commercially sound agreements.
- Prepare and manage contractual documentation, including agreements, amendments, and formal correspondence.
Contract Administration
- Manage contract execution from mobilisation through to final completion.
- Track contractor performance against contractual commitments and project objectives.
- Ensure all contractual obligations and governance requirements are consistently met.
Claims & Commercial Risk Management
- Evaluate and administer contractor claims including scope changes, schedule impacts, and payment applications.
- Address contract interpretation issues and resolve disputes in a practical and commercially responsible manner.
- Support the mitigation of contractual risks while protecting project timelines and budgets.
Cost & Financial Monitoring
- Oversee project cost control activities including forecasting, financial reporting, and cash flow tracking.
- Monitor expenditure against approved budgets and identify potential commercial risks early.
Process Improvement & Reporting
- Develop tools and reporting mechanisms to monitor key commercial and contractual performance indicators.
- Contribute to initiatives aimed at improving efficiency, governance, and value across the project delivery process.
- Lead project close-out activities and conduct reviews to capture lessons learned for future developments.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Guide and support junior contracts team members, helping to build capability within the Johor Bahru office.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders including development, construction, and leadership teams across the region.
- Maintain strong working relationships with contractors, consultants, and project partners.
Regional Project Support
- Manage multiple projects concurrently, including new facility developments and upgrades to existing data centre assets.
- Travel to project sites within the region as required for project reviews, audits, commissioning support, and completion activities.
Key Requirements:
- Degree in Law, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- Extensive experience within the construction or infrastructure sector, with a strong background in contract management and claims administration.
- Thorough understanding of construction contracts, commercial risk allocation, and contract law principles.
- Proven experience negotiating complex agreements and resolving contractual challenges effectively.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders across multiple functions.
- Self-driven with the ability to manage complex issues independently and deliver practical solutions.
- Demonstrated leadership capability with experience mentoring or guiding junior professionals.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and digital collaboration platforms.
