Our client is a leading global financial institution providing comprehensive capital markets, advisory, and investment banking services. The Real Asset team specialises in real estate and infrastructure advisory, capital raising, and strategic transactions, supporting clients in enhancing asset value and executing complex investment strategies across domestic and cross-border markets.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategic Direction
- Lead the Real Asset advisory practice across real estate and infrastructure sectors
- Drive business development, originate new mandates, and expand client relationships
- Define strategic direction for the team, including market positioning and growth initiatives
- Represent the firm in high-level client engagements, industry events, and executive discussions
Transaction Origination & Execution Oversight
- Source and lead large-scale M&A, financing, and capital markets transactions
- Oversee financial analysis, valuation, structuring, negotiation, and due diligence
- Direct cross-border transactions in collaboration with global offices
- Provide final review and approval of pitch materials, investment memorandums, and deal documents
Client Advisory & Relationship Management
- Serve as a trusted advisor to major corporates, developers, REITs, institutional investors, and infrastructure sponsors
- Lead board-level and C-suite presentations, delivering strategic and actionable insights
- Manage long-term client relationships and ensure exceptional service delivery
Team Leadership & Talent Development
- Manage, mentor, and evaluate a team of analysts, associates, and VPs
- Guide deal teams across multiple concurrent transactions
- Build team capabilities through training, hiring, and performance management
- Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture aligned with global IBD standards
Internal & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with coverage, ECM, DCM, structured finance, risk, and compliance teams
- Coordinate with external advisors including legal, accounting, technical, and tax specialists
- Contribute to firmwide strategic initiatives, thought leadership, and sector insights
Key Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA, CFA, CPA, or similar qualifications are a strong asset
- 12+ years of relevant experience in: Investment banking (M&A / ECM / DCM), Real estate or infrastructure private equity, Project finance / structured finance, Strategic advisory for large corporates or institutional investors
- Proven track record leading significant real estate or infrastructure transactions
- Extensive client network within Japan and/or international markets
- Demonstrated ability to originate, pitch, and close complex, high-value mandates
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing multi-level deal teams
- Excellent communication skills with business-level proficiency in both Japanese and English
- Ability to operate autonomously while driving strategic growth for the platform
- Deep understanding of capital markets, financial structuring, regulatory frameworks, and sector dynamics
