As our Mechanical Lead Engineer, you will be pivotal in managing and optimizing our cutting-edge data center building systems. You'll ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations, striving for the highest standards in critical environment maintenance. This role offers the chance to provide comprehensive engineering and technical services, focusing on continuous improvement and robust risk management. You’ll coordinate with third-party service providers, guide technical teams, and contribute directly to the day-to-day management of our critical facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Safety & Compliance: Create and maintain a safe working environment, ensuring strict adherence to Work Health and Safety (WHS) standards, managing risks, and escalating issues proactively.
- Information Security: Uphold and maintain critical certifications (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO45001, ISO27001) and security controls, participating in ongoing audits.
- Data Center Operations: Ensure continuous operation of the data center, managing and coordinating responses to reported issues, and providing guidance to the 24x7 Technical Operations Team.
- Maintenance & Technical Excellence: Oversee the maintenance and service practices of contractors, ensuring quality, manufacturer recommendations, and industry best practices are met.
- Provide crucial engineering support, manage central engineering records, and conduct rigorous reviews of maintenance and repair programs.
- Infrastructure Management: Monitor and maintain critical infrastructure plans and documentation for mechanical, electrical, hydraulics, fire, and BMS/EMS systems.
- Plan and coordinate engineering works with effective change management.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive initiatives that generate performance and/or financial benefits, bringing a proactive approach to all operational matters.
On-Call Support: Routinely operate after-hours on-call, responding to and assisting in the investigation, mitigation, and recovery of issues within the data center.
Key Requirements:
- Degree or trade equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering.
- Facilities Maintenance Management and/or Property Management qualifications.
- Training in current WHS, QA, and ideally environmental legislation.
- Bi-lingual in both Korean and English is highly regarded.
- At least 5 years of experience in an engineering role, typically from a technical or trade background.
- Strong technical capabilities with familiarity in Critical Systems operation (fire, mechanical, electrical).
- Significant mechanical working experience with chillers, precision air conditioning equipment, and building management systems.
- Proven ability to manage multiple, complex operational matters, planning, and prioritizing work to tight deadlines.
- Experience in managing works within computer rooms and assessing service limitations.
- Participation in design and commissioning of facilities/building systems.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; honest and ethical.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
- Well-developed project management skills, strong analytical and problem-solving competencies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft products (Word, Excel, Outlook) and sound experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).
- A continuous improvement mindset, innovative, enthusiastic, self-driven, and methodical.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with integrity and strong time management skills.
