We are representing an established Data Centre Operator based in Japan and are looking for a VP/Director of Design & Engineering in Japan, where you'll play a leadership role in providing strategy and direction for design and engineering of our data centers. As a key member of our team, you'll leverage your operational excellence, project management expertise, and strong leadership skills to drive efficiency, quality, and innovation.

Key Responsibilities:
- Design and Engineering Leadership: Lead the design and engineering aspects of a comprehensive program of data center projects across multiple sites in Japan, ensuring alignment with global standards and strategies.
- Team Management: Manage and mentor a team of project managers, providing guidance, support, and ensuring successful delivery of projects on time and within budget.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including construction, operations, procurement, and finance, to ensure a holistic approach to project execution.
- Industry Insights: Foster relationships with external partners, stakeholders, and consultants to stay informed about industry trends and best practices.
Key Requirements:
- Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 10 years of experience in leadership roles within data mission critical design and engineering, with proven experience managing and leading teams of project managers.
- Fluent in Japanese and English
- Strong familiarity with large-scale capital program projects and standardized design and engineering
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities
